Prayer of Abandonment

PRAYER OF ABANDONMENT

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself...
and the fact that I think
     I am following your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But, I believe that the desire
to love as Christ love please you.
And I hope I have that desire
in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything
     apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this,
you will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore, I will trust you always,
though I may seem to be lost
and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are with me,
and you will never leave me
       to face my perils alone.
Amen.

10 SECRETS TO SUSTAINING YOUR FAITH IN LIFE AND GOD

10. "This too shall pass." This biblical verse had meaning as regards the BP oil well disaster in Louisiana and it did come to pass fortunately for all concerned.

9. Give your worries to God emotionally. Remember 1 peter wherein God says "Give all your worries to God, because He cares about you."

8. If getting older is a burden, remember Isaiah 46 wherein God says "Even when you are old, I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you"

7. When feeling down about your material wealth, remember as stated in Psalm 89, "Don't let it bother you when others get rich and live in luxury, for soon they will die and all of their wealth will be left behind."

6. When at the back of the pack and being number one is out of reach, remember the biblical adage "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." It can be a meaningful affirmation to many a Christian.

5. When intimidated by the valley of the shadows of death, one can take solace in reciting the 23rd Psalm. "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want and so on." This scripture will sustain you in the midst of life's trying moments.

4. When concerned about life and death matters, remember from Ecclesiastes 3, "God makes everything happen at the right time" However, none of us can fully understand his timing as it were.

3. When beleaguered with life's problems, remember to pray to almighty God. As the apostle Paul said "Life is a constant process of prayer".

2. If you are discouraged and lonely, remember Hebrews 13, "God has said, I will never leave you; I will never forget you."

1. The number one secret to sustaining your faith is Jesus' words to His disciples in John 13 wherein Jesus commands us, "You must love one another just as I have loved you. If you love one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples."
